Research

The Department works closely with the Department of Oncology, Aarhus University Hospital, and has conventional animal facilities, hormone receptor laboratory, molecular biology laboratory, cell culture facilities, an experimental X-ray unit, flow-cytometry, blood gas analyses laboratory, plus a wide range of routine laboratory activities and a clinical trial unit.

 

The work performed at the department comprises both experimental and clinical studies, on a national and international, cooperative basis.

 

 

Main research areas:

 

  • Experimental and clinical radiotherapy with emphasis on treatment related morbidity and the optimization of therapy
  • Tumour microenvironment and vasculature targeting
  • Molecular biological oriented studies of prognostic factors
  • Programme on predictive parameters in radiotherapy
  • Several activities directed towards a broad multimodal oncological therapeutic approach, using surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy
